Jim Shaffer, Vice President, Sales and Marketing (PGxHealth) – Mr. Shaffer joined Clinical Data in April 2007 and serves as the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for our PGxHealth division.  Mr. Shaffer has over 16 years of sales and marketing experience in the pharmaceutical industry.  Mr. Shaffer joined Clinical Data from New River Pharmaceuticals where he was Vice President of Sales and Marketing.  New River Pharmaceuticals was a specialty pharmaceutical company focused on developing novel pharmaceuticals and improved versions of widely-prescribed drugs which was acquired by Shire Plc.  Prior to that, Mr. Shaffer lead the sales and marketing efforts in the US and Canada for Prestwick Pharmaceuticals, a specialty pharmaceutical company focused on the development and marketing of drugs for the central nervous system.

Additionally, Mr. Shaffer held numerous leadership positions in sales and marketing with InterMune and GlaxoSmithKline across several therapeutic areas including oncology, HIV, respiratory and hepatology.  Mr. Shaffer has extensive experience in successfully building commercial teams and launching new products.  Mr. Shaffer began his sales career with Monsanto and Merck in 1988.  He holds a Bachelor of Science degree and M.B.A. from the The Ohio State University.
